Meet Phyllis, our Ocean Star

Meet Phyllis, our tuck shop owner here at Ocean Star in Bunbury.

Phyllis was born in Guildford in the 1930s and moved to Bunbury in 1952.

Phyllis worked as a chemist before continuing her studies in nursing.

She then went on to work as a nurse at Bunbury Regional Hospital for many years.

She is now the proud owner of “Phyllis’ Lolly Shop” at Ocean Star. Every Tuesday 1pm – 2pm, she runs her shop in the family room so all residents and staff to stock up on some goodies.
Phyllis personally goes shopping with one of our volunteers to replenish the stock needed for the shop.

She finds being able to run her shop has helped maintain her cognition and keeps her active through the week.
